Good morning, dear readers!
Happy Wednesday. I’ve decided to do a list of 6 reasons you should blog. This can be for non-bloggers or bloggers alike. I never thought that I’d actually start a blog, let alone get nearly 30 followers, three awards, and write 83 posts.
Blogging has helped me reclaim my love for prose, something I stopped doing for fun after starting college. There proved to be time for poetry, but not nearly enough time for creative prose. Now, funny enough, I need to reclaim my hand at poetry. I wrote very little this past school-year, since I was extremely busy.
Here’s my personal list of reasons why you, yes you, should blog:
1. Blogging keeps you writing.
If you’re considering starting a blog, you totally should! I recommend starting a blog in the summer. You may be busy–hanging with friends, working, etc.–but chances are that you’ll have more down time to focus on developing your theme, the categories you’ll be writing about, and posting.
For me, blogging opens up a new channel of online freedom. Unlike Facebook or Twitter, where I feel obligated to type something, WordPress allows me to fill an empty box of space without shoving the idea that I have to write something in my face. This helps me generate my creativity, instead of writing a post that’s done out of necessity.
3. A true sense of community.
What’s wonderful about WordPress is that people are kind. I haven’t been blogging for very long, but all of the comments I’ve received on my posts are positive, or thought-provoking. While I’m sure that there are other sites that bring out similar good vibes for people, like a fan based wiki, WordPress seems free from nasty comments. Which is awesome.
4. You don’t have to pay.
WordPress is free. You can pay, but you don’t have to.
5. So. Many. Themes.
I went through several themes before I chose Sela. Seriously, just look at the options!
6. Blogging is fun!
The atmosphere surrounding a blog is fun. Why did I start a blog? Because I thought it would be fun. Turns out, I was right!
Have fun blogging, everyone,
